Working with Qubicle is as easy as drawing conventional 2D pixel art only in 3D. You are provided with familiar tools like the pencil, the eraser or the paint bucket to draw your models on a 2D canvas and to sculpt in 3D.
To start your model simply drag and drop a bitmap on the canvas to import it as voxels or create a standard primitive like a box or a sphere.
To make editing of complex models made of millions of voxels simple, Qubicle Constructor introduces the concept of matrices. A matrix is small group of voxels that can be easily selected, moved and edited. Multiple of these smaller matrices form a complex model.
Qubicle provides three edit modes to ease your work: use the Model Edit Mode to create and arrange multiple voxel matrices and to modify them with modifier like stretch, mirror, noise, combine etc.. Use the Matrix Edit Mode to sculpt in 3D and to apply modifier on a selection of cubes. And finally use the Slice Edit Mode to draw on slices of your matrix on a 2D canvas.
Modifiers change the structure and the coloring of your voxel matrices. Qubicle provides more than 25 of them - like flip, mirror, rotate, stretch, extrude, hollow, fill hollow, divide, hue/saturation, noise, combine extract core, set texture and so on...
The included landscape generator enables you to create voxel landscapes in no time, including baked shadows and height grading.
Qubicle already imports and exports a variaty of famous image-, voxel- and 3d formats to let you integrated Qubicle into your production pipeline.
Use the flexible, highly customizeable Wavefront OBJ exporter to export to nearly all important 3d applications. Or export as XML and write your own custom import routine.
Use the VOX, RAWVOX and BINVOX importers to import organic voxel models made with Binvox, Poly2Vox or 3D-Coat. The VOX, VXL and Minecraft .Schematic exporters let you integrate your works into your favourite game engine.
Qubicle currently supports four languages including english, german, french and czech.
The Master Edition contains all features and is the only commercial Qubicle license available.
The Education Edition is a low price variant of the Master Edition and targets students and lecturers. Like the Master Edition, the Education Edition contains all features but may not be used commercially. Furthermore a valid academic ID is required.
The Basic Edition is for free but has a limited feature list. It lacks . The following features are excluded: all export routines, all import routines except for the image import (png, bmp, gif), some modifiers (hue/saturation, desaturate, brightness/contrast, noise, fill hollow, extract core, divide, bake shadows) and some features (Duplicate Special, landscape Generator).
The Voxlap Edition targets players of games like Ace Of Spades and Voxelstein 3D which use the famous Voxlap engine. Use this edition to create your own objects and terains and export them as VOX or VXL. The Voxlap Edition contains all features except for the OBJ, XML, RAWVOX and Minecraft .Schematic export routines and the support for voxel texturing.
Coming soon: The Minecraft Edition targets players of Minecraft. Use this edition to create your own Minecraft levels in the same textured look Minecraft has. The Minecraft Edition contains all features except for the OBJ, XML, VOX, RAWVOX and VXL export routines.
