FEATURE ADDED: Changing Grid alignment?

Postby thUg-inc » Thu Sep 01, 2011 9:37 am

Hi, I'm a french pixel artist and i'm actually testing Qubicle by making a part of own game level, tiled in 16x16x16 matrix, that I use like tiles when i make 2d games.

Image

I often use "Arrow Keys" and "Page Up/Down Keys" to move those matrix like a tileset, and holding "Shift" to place them faster.
But "Shift" move them of 10 squares, is there a way to change this kind of autogrid value to 16 on all axes?
And is there a keyboard shortcut for "Duplicate" a matrix?

hm...
i never thought about changing the size of moving with shift + arrow key. but in your particular task it would be quite usefull i agree.
unfortunately i have no settings dialogue yet, where i could add it in a minute.
let me think about this

And is there a keyboard shortcut for "Duplicate" a matrix?

there's a duplicate button on the modifier shelf but you may have noticed that. what shortcut would be good and easy to remember? CTRL-D is reserved for deselect... suggestions?

i like the image you posted :) hope to see more in the gallery soon ^^

i would like to move this post to feature requests if you don't mind

Thanks for your clear answer.
Of course, you can move this post to feature requests, i was thinking to post it there but I wanted to ask first if there was a way to do this that I haven't seen.

So, a dialog box where we can enter enter X Y Z new sizes for moving with shift would be nice, like some 2d software got with there grid in there preferences settings.

For the "Duplicate" short cut, if they aren't used, maybe CTRL-B (paste in back layer for Illustrator) or CTRL-G (paste as vectoriel selection in Paint Shop Pro).
It's not that B or G remember any word for duplicate (maybe finding a word that fit) but B and G are just near V, that would give:
X : cut
C: copy
V: paste
B: duplicate (paste in place)
This way the 4 short cuts most used to quickly copy/paste would be on the same line.

Thanks you for this wonderful software ^^

Ctrl-b sounds reasonable. Will add this to the next release. Changing the grid size isnt a problem neither. The only problem is (like all too often) how to name this. Thinking of it... Grid size should do.
Anyhow, it's on the list.

Done.

- CTRL+B is now the hotkey for duplicate.
- The grid size can be set via dialogue.

coming with 1.0.12.0
