Any way to export to Sketchup?

Postby amdesign » Thu Mar 29, 2012 11:22 am

Because I'd really like to take non-isometric exports of my model. I'm using the paid version of QC and my sketchup is the free one.

If there are other ways around this I'd be interested but I really can't afford a 3000€ 3d program.

Tim, you should mention this somewhere.

You can use Sketchup to merge coplanar faces using:
Sketchup Pro or this Plugin to import the Obj:
Fluid Importer from
http://www.fluidray.com/downloads

And this plugin to do the cleanup (Cleanup^3):

or this free one by TIG http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=20584
Import OBJ (+material)

13 kb against the 11. 7 Megas Zipped above !!!

And for fun and easy render and animation : Sketchup DAE --> Lumion !
In fact Lumion accept some 3D Format : DWG, DXF, DAE, FBX, MAX, 3DS, OBJ
max animation :1280 * 720 and Still image 1920 * 1080

13kb but it's slow and crashes on big objects ;)

(by the way use multimaterial export for sketchup)

EDIT:
I looked at lumion and it's amazing! Thanks a lot! :D
